Foul Ball! Steroids, Baseball, and Hypocrisy

There are three things that you just don't mess with in America. They are--in no particular order--kids, dogs, and baseball.  Child molesters that are exposed to the general population in prison are assured of certain death.  Mistreatment of a dog invites scorn and contempt, although that is now under question with the NFL's attempted beatification of Michael Vick.  And please note that the American people take their baseball very, very seriously. 

There is a widespread misconception among baseball fans that Major League Baseball (MLB) is the only sport that is pure and pristine.  NBA players are considered gangsta' thugs. Rush Limbaugh once described quite accurately that a typical NFL game sometimes resembles a fight between the Crips and the Bloods.  But, baseball fans conveniently forget about the "Black Sox" scandal, the Pete Rose gambling scandal (more on that below), the use of greenies, spitballs, and the collusion among club owners to avoid competitive bidding for players' services. Yet baseball fans are outraged at steroid use in baseball.  ("I'm shocked, shocked that there is drug use in Major League Baseball!")

In an interview with Bob Costas, Mark McGwire finally admitted steroid use, confirming what was probably the worst kept secret in the history of humankind.  McGwire, between crocodile tears, claimed that he used steroids only for health purposes although an FBI informant claims otherwise.   McGwire was recently hired to be the hitting instructor for the St.Louis Cardinals.  Cardinal Manager Tony LaRussa stands by his man claiming that McGwire would have hit all those home runs without steroids.  Yeah, and Dave Kingman hit for average.

Maybe there was a pang of guilt, but in reality McGwire was probably testing the waters to see if baseball would accept his return.  McGwire has been under the radar since his retirement in 2001, thus avoiding the scorn and contempt experienced by Barry Bonds.  Bonds has been essentially ostracized from MLB since 2007, with no AL team needing a power-hitting DH with bad knees.  Bonds is also under indictment for perjury.  The trial has been indefinitely postponed. Other steroid users haven't fared much better.  There is the indefinite suspension by MLB of Rafael Palmiero following his finger waving testimony before Congress.  Another player in steroid limbo is Roger Clemens who continues to be investigated by the Department of Justice for perjury.  Sammy Sosa, despite being named as one of the 103 players that tested positive for steroid use, calmly waits--as he believes--for his induction into the Hall of Fame.

By cutting a deal with Congress before his testimony before his testimony, McGwire, until his tearful confession has avoided any consequences of his steroid use.  But who knows what McGwire gave the "Honorable Gentlepersons" of the Congress [sic]  in exchange for his testimony?  For some reason, McGwire has received kid glove treatment all of these years while others have paid in one way or another for using performance enhancing drugs.  Steven A. Smith expressed his contempt for McGwire on the January 12th broadcast of his Fox Sports show.  The elephant in the room was that McGwire was given preferential treatment because he is White as opposed to the treatment that Barry Bonds has endured.  It's not clear whether the race victim card applies here, but it is odd that McGwire got a Congressional deal that others didn't get.  What is really laughable is that perhaps the most crooked Congress--(read Democrats)--in American history self-righteously deigns to judge alleged steroid users.     

Many fans still question the continued suspension of Pete Rose for gambling on baseball.  A USA Today/Gallup poll showed that 75 percent of more than 1,000 Americans surveyed think that player use of performance-enhancing drugs is more serious than Rose's gambling offense. The same poll shows that support for Rose's Hall of Fame eligibility has not changed in 20 years--60 percent favor it and 35 percent are opposed to make Rose eligible.  Whatever Rose was, he gave his all on the field and never considered any alternative to winning. He was known as Charlie Hustle because of that quality.  While reprehensible on its face, knowing how competitive Rose was, it is believable that he would bet on his own team.  But it was still wrong to gamble on baseball.  My über-smart Sister once told me that, "If it's wrong on Monday then it's wrong the rest of the week." 
  

But all of these barroom and squawk radio discussions about relative filth miss the point.  Both gambling and steroid use compromise the integrity of the game.  Otherwise, why not evolve into sports entertainment like the WWE?  That's because although we may know the probable outcome of a WWE wrestling match and that some of the wrestler's bodies may be "enhanced," we're still entertained.  FYI, there are fans of wrestling that are called "smarks" that are fans that enjoy pro wrestling despite or because they know that it is staged.  But Americans enjoy a wide range of entertainment options and know how to put things in their proper perspective.  The only time they get angry is when there's a misrepresentation of the product that they've spent their hard earned dollars on.  This is the emotion behind the anger toward Tiger Woods who was misrepresented as a clean-cut guy but who turned out in reality to be Tiger Woody.  From all this, perhaps even Barack Obama might experience a "teachable moment" and reconsider his misrepresentation that he is a moderate.  But knowing how arrogant he is and that he is Soros' puppet, it's doubtful that he would ever be open-minded enough to be truthful.  It is turning out that there is no such thing as change that we can believe in.

Are You Ready for Some Political Football?

What I can't understand is why anyone would question why the NFL should consider Rush Limbaugh's joint bid to own the St.Louis Rams?  After all, he's got the financial means to help breathe life into a moribund football franchise.  But Liberal-Fascist race mongers never get the scrutiny that Conservatives get.  Yet Conservatives get accused of racism constantly by self-righteous White Liberals.  As a Latino, I've often been accused of racism by these same self-righteous whites!  Imagine that, self-hating whites accusing me of racism!  Many of these same people are "reformed" racists. Good for them. I'm glad that they came to their senses.  But I think that a lot of their vitriol is a case of projection of their bigotry upon me. They are as annoying as a reformed smoker or whore. Personally, I wish I could get a respite from politics even if it were only for a few hours on Sunday.
 
Well, I watch Sunday Night Football in America on NBC (National Broadcasters for Communism) and I have to put up with that extreme Liberal-Fascist nut case and academic poseur Keith Olbermann and that ninny Liberal-Fascist fruitcake Bob Costas during the pregame show.  Maybe, I should raise Holy Hell about having to watch those two DNC media stooges pontificate about football, especially since probably neither one ever played any sport; unless it was jump rope or tiddly winks.  Unlike many Liberals, I'm willing to be corrected.  But In the spirit of full disclosure, readers should know that I was a mediocre athlete in junior and senior high school.  However, because I actually played sports, I think that I can speak with some authority as to what it's like to be an athlete even if I was nothing more than cannon fodder for the first string players during football practice. 

My rights as an American sports fan are being abridged by the leftist lame stream media by having to listen and watch effete Europhile Liberal-Fascists broadcast football and other sports while doing the DNC's job of criticizing Conservatives. [NN: I have not been a registered Republican since 2004; and after 20 years I left the Democrook Party in 1992, when the crypto-communist Clintonistas took over the party.]  I want Ameri-philes broadcasting the uniquely American games of football, basketball, and baseball. (Yeah, I've been told that American football has origins in the European games of soccer and rugby. But that's like comparing an effete game like cricket to baseball! BTW, I've also been told that the Incas played a game similar to basketball, but it still is not basketball!) 

I've always thought Liberal-Fascists believed in the "Fairness Doctrine"--which, I would define as being ideology free sports broadcasts.  The reality is that these Liberal-Fascists want to control everything from the health care you get to the sports you watch.  Socialist totalitarians have always used sports, e.g., the Olympics as a propaganda tool--Hitler with the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Brezhnev with the 1980 Moscow Olympics, and Hu Jintao with the 2008 Beijing Olympics.   If you don't believe me about Liberal-Fascists wanting to control sports, take a look at the October 2009 issue of the Condé Nast (read Obama propaganda mag-rag) Wired Magazine in which two "experts" call for the abolition of big league sports on page 109 of the rag. They recommend that the Liberal-Fascist Obama step in to "save" pro sports!  The Wired article concludes that Obama is the one to "fix" pro sports! 

Oh crap!  So the inexperienced, incompetent, imbecile Obama might meddle in the last bastion of male refuge from the pussification of our society--pro-sports!  How appropriate that it would it be for a guy that wore "Mom Jeans" as he incompentely threw out the first pitch at the 2009 Baseball All-Star game to "fix" pro sports.

The real point here is the hypocrisy of Liberal-Fascists.  If Michael Moore, closet plutocrat and neo-capitalist, wanted to buy either of the Blue State teams like the Detroit Lions or the San Francisco 49ers, the lame stream media probably wouldn't say much except to report the fact that he was in the market for a pro-football team. 

But Limbaugh's bid was the talk of all sports talk shows and the NFL Player's Union (NFLPA).  The NFLPA in fact is taking a stance against Limbaugh's bid.  What a surprise that a leftist labor union would oppose a conservative owning a pro football team!  As a former AFSCME (American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees) and SEIU (Service Employees International Union) member while working as a bureaucrat and State Bar prosecutor, I resented the goose lock step support of Democrat candidates.  There was never any analysis of the issues except for recitation of DNC talking points.  I quit both of the unions because I refused to put one thin dime into the pocket of any Liberal-Fascist plutocrat!

The NFLPA's leftist leader (sic) DeMaurice Smith using DNC talking points to oppose Limbaugh's offer says that:

I've spoken to the Commissioner [Roger Goodell] and I understand that this ownership consideration is in the early stages. But sport in America is at its best when it unifies, gives all of us reason to cheer, and when it transcends. Our sport does exactly that when it overcomes division and rejects discrimination and hatred.

Why would anybody be surprised that a sports labor union leader (sic) would go along with the DNC's leftist agenda?

In an idiotic statement masquerading as journalism by ESPN sports propaganda "journalist" stooge Chris Mortensen says:

Limbaugh has expressed a number of controversial racial ideas in the past. For example, he suggested that Gen. Colin Powell supported Barack Obama's presidential candidacy simply because he was black, and he also stated that the media wants black quarterbacks to do well and that Donovan McNabb doesn't deserve much of the credit he has received for the Eagles' success.

Here's the exact quote by Limbaugh:

The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is little hope invested in [Donovan] McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve.

Where's the racism in this opinion?  That McNabb got a lot of undeserved credit for his team's performance can be said about any profession--especially in a team sport!  If you've ever worked in an office--(the concept of work excludes most trust fund Liberal-Fascists)--then you know there's always that guy or girl--be s/he Black, White, Asian or Latino--that gets credit from a stupid boss for a success when they did squat.  Can you seriously deny that the lame stream media doesn't desire that a black quarterback or a black presidential candidate succeed?  In the abstract that isn't a bad goal except when it involves an inexperienced, incompetent, imbecile like Obama. 

Mortensen appears to be yet another DNC media stooge playing the race card. The predecessors of the modern Liberal-Fascists, the good LIberals like Hubert Humphrey promoted racial equality without any racial animus. But even my Black--and very conservative friends--are loathe to criticize Obama because, well, hey, he's the ground breaker for Blacks in politics much like Jackie Robinson was for baseball over 60 years ago.  But contrary to popular belief, Obama is really a modern day political Stepin Fechit for George Soros, the man that hates America.  I would also urge readers to not be so naive as to believe that the lame stream media wasn't invested in Obama getting elected President of the United States because it made history.  Because of Baby Boomer and Generation Next vidiots influenced by Liberal-Fascist propaganda like the network news, newspapers, magazines, movies, and all other forms of entertainment media it's no wonder that the inexperienced, incompetent, imbecile Obama got elected.  In other words, Obama's voting base of the Baby Boomers and Generation Next were dupes.  

Depending upon one's definition, we do need to embrace the so-called post-racism by recognizing that there are incompetent Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans in all walks of life without fear of being accused of racism.  For many years I've put up with the Liberal movie community's depiction of Latinos as being nothing more than bandidos or servants.  So where's the racial justice there?  Why aren't NFL players Tony Gonzalez and Mark Sanchez celebrated as heroes in the NFL?  Maybe to White Liberal-Fascists, it's because Latinos are the new American n****rs and that it is not yet in their political interest to use Latinos as the new race war fodder.  They waited until the Prairie Socialist Lyndon Baines Johnson came along in 1963 to use Blacks as political pawns and dupes by buying their votes during the War on Poverty.  Thankfully, Johnson also pushed through Civil Rights legislation. The Southern bigots of the Democrat party were against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. But in the end it was the overwhelming support of Republicans that got the legislation passed. 

I sincerely look forward to the eventual end of this Liberal-Fascist racist nightmare whether it ends by ballot or otherwise. Yes, I do want Obama to fail in the same way that he and his Liberal-Fascist cohorts want America to fail.

What is truly amazing is that taxpayers dollars fund the salary of former Weather Underground member and domestic terrorist, University of Illinois Education Professor Bill Ayers and that his sicko wife Bernadette Dorhn has achieved legitimacy by working with a prominent law firm in Chicago.  Only in the Amerika of Obama could such sociopaths achieve such career heights.  Yet, people wring their hands over the fact that Rush Limbaugh wants to buy a piece of the St. Louis Rams--go figure...
